Welcome to Texas in July. Temperatures exceed 110F (35C) in the practically non-existant shade. The sun beats down on the horse ranch mercilessly baking everything in it's sight. Roses have long since wilted away. And yet... here is a common wildflower (I'm not 100% certain, but it sort of looks like and smells like some sort of Sage) who flourishes in such inhospitable conditions.

Some call it a weed, but I call it beauty. If you have never smelled Sage, I suggest you find a candle shop or other place to find the scent, which is heavenly. Its purple flowers with yellow stamen make for a remarkable contrast.

Beauty often overlooked, which will flourish even under adversity. I can think of a few friends whom this description would also match.

So here's to all those who are like the Wildflowers getting overlooked in favor of the Roses of the world. Give it time, someone is bound to recognise your beauty. Besides, who wants a hothouse beauty who is too frail to take out to the pasture and lie in the sun together?

Thanks for linking here :) I agree, beauty is often overlooked. Sometimes I am painfully aware of being the only person who stops in the middle of the mall parking lot to look up at the sky just because of fluffy white clouds.
