April 8th, 2007. It has been hitting upper 80's for the past month. When the Weather Forecasters said it might snow, I laughed. I thought it was an extended April Fools joke. Well, I guess The Guy Upstairs decided to point out that no matter how much I know, there's always something I don't know. So here it is... snowing... in April... in Texas.
The picture of the bluebonnets in snow didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, so sadly, it isn't getting posted. The one with the wildflowers didn't turn out too well either, which is a shame. I wanted to show blooming flowers in snow, just as a contrast of how messed up Texas weather can be. Alas, the only way to know just how warm it was before the snow is all the green grass.
I guess it just goes to show... miracles DO happen. If it can snow in Texas in April after 80+ degree weather... maybe I can find happiness after all.
haha oh the joy of living in that area. I remember when I lived in Clovis I stared for a good ten minutes at a blooming Yucca with a quarter inch of snow clinging to the bloom
Ahh. Temperature was like 40 or so while the snow fell, and with it having been 80+ for the past few weeks, the ground was warm enough that nothing stuck. But it did snow all day long, turning to sleet in later afternoon. If it would have stuck, we'd have had at least a foot of snow, if not more. Had over a solid inch of water from all the snow, which was a VERY welcome addition to our much depleted water tables.
There's happiness for everyone, no matter how cruel the world seems to be.
And here I thought we were having crazy weather in Alabama. I swear, the temperature would fluctuate ten degrees at least three times a day, morning, mid-morning, noon, mid-afternoon. Actually that's four... ><
Texas gets crazier weather mostly because of location. Being at the ass end of the Great Plains means we get all the cold fronts that get channeled straight down the line, plus all the stuff comming up off the Gulf, plus all the hot stuff from Mexico, plus the weather patterns that blow in across New Mexico. One of the reasons why we have so many Tornados, in fact.
^_^ wow, i think it's realy pretty, the snow falling and the green grass, just, wow. First time i've ever seen snow with green grass, in Texas, too. You know, I think your'e realy good and photography.
And dont worry, she is out that, dear.
Somtimes it just takes a while.
